The Rao Raj Vilas - Kuchesar, Bulandshahar
Village Kuchesar Fort, Distt. Bulandshahar - 245402, Uttar Pradesh
The Kuchesar Fort, an 18 century edifice-a much smaller structure then , came into the possession of our family with the conferment of the Jagir. The fort was raised to its present glory by Rao Ramdhan Singh in 1734. When he and his brother extended their sway by seizing many other villages Afrabsyab Khan, the governor of Koyal, attacked Kuchesar and razed the fort in 1763 and took the brothers as prisoners. The Jat brothers recovered the fort in 1782 .Since then, the Kuchesar fort remained in unbroken possession of the family. Later some sections were added by other members of the family.
Rao Bahadur Rao Giriraj Singh, the last Rao Bahadur of Kuchesar, married into the royal family of Bhadhor in Punjab and became a devout follower of Sikhism. It was during his time that a Gurudwara was made in Kuchesar, adjacent to the fort . Since then the family members have been devoted Sikhs. The present owner of Rao Raj Vilas- Kunwar Ajit Singh and his family mirrors in their everyday living a harmonious confluence of both Jat and Sikh cultures.
